Korea International Boat Show 2019, hosted by Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Gyeonggi Province, will be held at KINTEX and Gimpo Ara-Marina on May 9 – 12.
The 12th Korea International Boat Show is known as one of the Asia’s top three boat shows along with the shows in Dubai and Shanghai. KIBS has been the most valued marine leisure show for the expansion of the base, development of related industry, and export industrialization.
At the KINTEX exhibition hall, 241 marine leisure companies (and 1,546 booths) related to yacht, boat, kayak, water sports, marine equipment, marine safety, fishing and diving will be exhibiting.
At Gimpo Ara-Marina, the show will offer a variety of marine leisure experiences with approximately 20 yachts and boats.
The Korean boat manufacturers will be introducing their new products at the MADE IN KOREA booth, the large-scale exhibition area comprising of 500 booths. Much interest has been drawn to DETEC, a Korean boat manufacturer exhibiting in MADE IN KOREA booth, for holding its exports contract ceremony for supplying its aluminum boat to the overseas buyer. The network between them has been created by meeting in KIBS 2018, where they decided to ship the boat right after the show.
In addition, exhibition items to pioneer a new export market for Korea marine leisure industry will be exhibited. Business meetings will be arranged for the end users like coat guards, navy, marine corps and the fire defense headquarters for “work boats” such as fireboats, forward work lines, patrol boats, rescue boats, and speed boats.
Visits to overseas buyers are also something to notice. Korean marine leisure exporters such as JMP which manufactures boat parts, Woosung I.B. which produces air inflatable boats and SUP board have been invited to the large-scale invitation hosted by their overseas customers. Also, more than 300 buyers from more than 20 countries are coming to KIBS and attending the business matching program to meet domestic manufacturers.
A variety of other events have also been organized for the general public who are interested in marine leisure and professional users who handle boats. At the indoor exhibition hall of KINTEX, a lecture titled “Choosing the Right Boat for Boat Fishing” will be given by Un Jung Choi, a performer of “Let’s Go Boat Phishing”, a professional TV program for boat fishing supported by Gyeonggi Province. And, a “Boat Trailer Driving Challenge” will be held for activating a small-sized towing driver’s license, which is essential for boat transportation. Various boat and boat ride experiences will be held at Gimpo Ara Marina.
Dr. CH Kim, GM of KIBS Secretariat, said, “Korea International Boat Show is the channel that Korea’s marine leisure industry gathers” and “This year’s KIBS will be the starting point for domestic marine companies go forward in the stagnant market atmosphere.”
